Earlier you had to mark the item in question and specify dimensions (inches or mm). A lot of users gave up midway as they probably did not know those dimensions.

So now you have a slider to specify the size of the item. Drag the slider left or right to make the item bigger or smaller. No need to know the accurate dimensions as long as you physically have it with you.

To help them, I’ve created this simple page. It displays the image of item you possess (credit card, CD, dollar bill etc) and asks you to drag a slider till it becomes actual size.

I’ve now added pagination so only 50 of them are displayed at a time. Pages should load faster now !

New features at Pective

I’ve pushed some new features to Pective.

Sandbox: Now you can quickly test any dimension right on your screen.

I’ve limited the allowed monitor size to 4-50”. Users have been confused in the past, and have entered values like 1024 (the pixel width), so this should help them.

I’ve also added a help page explaning what monitor size means. You can also leave a comment if you’re still having trouble.

I’ve added a basic expletive filter for the comments.

Pective has had a vote accurate/inaccurate page for some time, but under 1% of visitors vote. I’ve made the feature more prominent by adding a question below every image.

Externally hotlinked images are redirected to the thumbnail version. Earlier they used to redirected to this image.
